The Discovery Bluff is a prominent headland at the Scott Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It marks the entrance to Avalanche Bay in Granite Harbor to the west .
Participants in the British Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) of the polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott discovered the headland. Scott called it the Rendezvous Bluff . This name was changed to the current form during Scott's Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913). It is named after the research ship RSS Discovery .
