Jeanne Little

Jeanne Little (born May 11, 1938 in Sydney as Jeanne Mitchell ; † November 7, 2020 there ) was an Australian entertainer and television presenter . Her active time lasted from 1974 to 2009. Little was one of the most famous television personalities in Australia.

Life

Jeanne Little had her first television appearance in September 1974 on the Mike Walsh Show , in which she was henceforth regularly to be seen on Channel 7 and later on Channel 9 . While on Channel 7 , Little also had two TV shows of her own: Jeanne's Little Show and the four-part sitcom Cuckoo in the Nest starring her.

In the following years, Little appeared as a guest star in Midday with Ray Martin and in the British talk show Parkinson and became known outside of Australia. In 1977 she was awarded the Gold Logie at the Logie Awards for her achievements on Australian television . She also received two other logies for Favorite Female Television Personality for appearances on the Mike Walsh Show during her career .

In addition to her television appearances Little also appeared in stage shows and musicals on, including 1985 in Jerry's Girls alongside Carol Channing as well as in Legends in the Sydney Opera House . She also completed a tour of Australia and the USA with her stage program Marlene , a homage to Marlene Dietrich .

From 1996 to 2007 Little appeared occasionally as a guest on the talk show Beauty and the Beast . In 2001 she received the Centenary Medal for her services . In 2009 she fell ill with Alzheimer's , which was made public in 2011. Little last lived in a nursing home. She was married to interior decorator Barry Little from 1971 until his death in July 2019, with whom they had a daughter. After Little's illness, the Jeanne Little Alzheimer's Research Fund was founded to collect donations for people with Alzheimer's disease. She died in Sydney on November 7, 2020 at the age of 82.
