Distinctive Software Inc. (DSI) was a Canadian game development company founded in 1982 by game programmers Don Mattrick and Jeff Sember . The company was founded after Mattrick and Sember had success with their 1982 game Evolution. Most of the games were published through the publisher Accolade. The company's headquarters were in Vancouver . In 1988, an independent company was founded for porting, Unlimited Software. Distinctive Software was best known for its ports, racing games, and sports games , including the Test Drive series of games and stunts , in the late 1980s . The basic code for Test Drive from 1987 was also used for The Duel: Test Drive II , Grand Prix Circuit from 1988, and The Cycles: International Grand Prix Racing from 1989.
