Distrust is a German dark metal band from Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt .
Band history
The band Distrust was founded in 1992 by Tyr von Eich (vocals), Jens Kuhr (lead guitarist), Thomas Heym (rhythm guitarist), René Haase (bassist) and Michael Franke (drummer) in Weißenfels. At that time they dedicated themselves to simple and common Death Metal . After a few line-up changes, the demo "Cry of Thoughts" was recorded in-house. Further changes of members followed and in 1996 the inclusion of saxophonist Tina Schmidt. In 1997 Distrust released the first CD "Scar in My Heart". With the combination of hard guitar sound and now also soft saxophone undertones, Distrust played at some larger concerts with bands such as Sodom , Crematory , Skyclad , Warpath , Manos and Soul Cages.
After further changes of members and the permanent line-up of Arne Krüger (alias Cabal) on bass from 1998, female vocal parts were included for the first time with Annika Aschner from 1999. The second CD "Cursed by Destiny", released in November 2000, offered the band a completely new arrangement with Black Metal influences and a subtle keyboard. Distrust himself called this style Dark Metal. From 2001 onwards, Nadine Fischer started the musical development of the band with her growlings . So the influence of Black Metal became much more and set new accents through their vocal counterplay to the garish screeching attacks of front singer Tyr von Eich.
This was followed by another appearance with Crematory as well as with Desaster and Century . In 2002 the so far last CD "Nevalim" was released. Further appearances followed, among others with the Apokalyptischen Reitern and The Jailbreakers (2006) as well as the decision to forego female vocals from 2007 and to give the keyboard a more prominent role.
In January 2010 Heiko left the band for health reasons. Keule has been playing the drummer again since 2011. Also since 2011, the former Recapture member Patrick has been filling the vacant lead guitarist position. On March 22nd, 2014 the current EP "New, Deep, Black" was released.
