Ditteshof
The Ditteshof is a council in the 19th Vienna district Döbling . It was built in 1928 on the Döblinger Gürtel .

The Ditteshof is located in the southeast of Döbling (cadastral municipality Oberdöbling ) between the Döblinger Gürtel, Heiligenstädter Straße and Devrientgasse. The official address of the residential complex is Heiligenstädter Straße 11–25.
history
The Ditteshof was built in 1928/29 according to the plans of the architect Arnold Karplus and named after the German school reformer Friedrich Dittes . In the residential complex with 279 apartments, shops, a daycare center, a bathing establishment as well as a party club and a ballroom were accommodated. The large residential complex is grouped around a varied interior courtyard. Massive towers alternate with cubic structures. The existing balcony and bay windows were placed in front of the complex as independent units. The low gate wing closes the Ditteshof off from Heiligenstädter Straße. A relief designed by Georg Ehrlich in 1932 was placed in the inner courtyard of the building , showing two children hugging each other and bearing the inscription “Viennese workers take children from the slums of Austria to themselves” . This relief is reminiscent of a solidarity campaign by the residents who brought the children of homeless families from Steyr , Lower Austria and Styria into their apartments in 1931/32 . A relief portrait depicting Friedrich Dittes is in the driveway and was designed by Anton Endstorfer in 1932 .
