Georg Ehrlich (born February 22, 1897 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ; died July 1, 1966 in Lucerne ) was an Austrian painter and sculptor .

Life

Georg Ehrlich studied in 1913 and 1914 at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Oskar Strnad and Anton von Kenner . From 1920 to 1924 he lived in Munich and Berlin; During this time he became a member of the German Association of Artists . 1925–1928 he was a member of the Vienna Artists' Association Hagenbund .

Ehrlich's main work is a lithographic biblical cycle in which he processed his experiences from the First World War , as well as bronze sculptures, portraits and landscape paintings .

Since Ehrlich was a Jew , he was forced to leave his home country Austria. In 1937 he emigrated to England and also spent the time of the Second World War there. He created the memorial in memory of the destruction of Coventry .

Georg Ehrlich was married to the painter Bettina Bauer-Ehrlich .

In 1977 the Georg-Ehrlich-Weg in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after him.
