Djamel Keddou (born January 30, 1952 in Algiers ; † November 16, 2011 ibid) was an Algerian football player and coach.

Athletic career

Keddou played for USM Algiers in the 1970s and 1980s . After the defender had already been in the final of the Algerian national cup several times with the club in the 1970s, he won his only national title at club level in 1981 with a 2-1 final victory over ASC Oran in this competition as team captain . Between 1973 and 1978 he was also a national player in the Algerian national team . With this he won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in 1975 , and he played a total of 25 international matches .

After his career ended, Keddou moved to the coaching bench. From 1986 he formed the coaching team at USM Algiers together with Mustapha Aksouh , and in 1988 the coached team won the national cup on penalties against CM Belouizdad . This was followed by engagements in the first and second Algerian leagues with JS El Biar , WB Aïn Benian , WA Rouiba , JSM Chéraga and ES Ben Aknoun .

After Keddou had been treated for a long time in Paris , he was transferred to hospital in Algiers in October 2011. There his condition worsened, so that after a cardiac arrest he was first put into an artificial coma and died in mid-November at the age of 59.
