Djamel Menad (born July 22, 1960 in El Bayadh ) is a former Algerian football player and current coach. He is not currently training a club.
Career
society
Djamel Menad began his career in 1975 in the youth of JS El Biar . In 1976 he moved to CR Belouizdad , where he played for seven years until 1981. In 1978 he and his team won the Algerian Cup. In 1981 he moved to JS Kabylie . There he had by far the most successes of his career. Between 1982 and 1986 he was Algerian champion four times and in 1986 also Algerian cup winner. Due to his good performance, teams from Europe also noticed him. Therefore, he was committed in 1987 to the French club Olympique Nîmes . There he was able to prove his scoring qualities and scored a total of thirty goals in 72 games. In 1990 he moved to Portugal for FC Famalicão . He played a total of 57 games between 1990 and 1992, scoring fifteen goals. Then he moved to league rivals Belenenses Lisbon . In one year, however, he only scored three goals from 22 games there. In 1994 I went back to Algeria, to JS Kabylie. He was also successful during his second stay there. He became Algerian champion in 1995 and won the African Cup Winners' Cup that same year . In 1996 he moved to USM Algiers , where he ended his career a year later.
National team
1982 began his career in the Algerian national football team . He was part of the squad for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico , where he was used in the group stage in the 1-0 defeat against Brazil . At the African Cup of Nations in 1990 in his own country, he was the top scorer with four goals and won the tournament with his team. During his national team career, he completed 81 games and scored 25 goals. He was also a member of the Algerian selection , which in 1980 in Moscow at the Olympic football tournament took part and was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
In 1986 he finished third behind Mohammed Timoumi and Rabah Madjer in the election of Africa's Footballer of the Year .
Trainer
In 2005 Menad started as a coach at USM Algiers , where he spent two years of his coaching career. Before that, from June 1995 he was playing assistant coach at JS Kabylie . From 2007 to 2011 he was the trainer of JSM Bejaïa .
He then took over the coaching post at his old club CR Belouizdad , but vacated the coaching chair in May 2012 after the lost cup final. From September 2012 to May 2013 he coached the MC Alger team .
