Dmitri Witaljewitsch Sarsembajew ( Russian Дмитрий Витальевич Сарсембаев ; English Dmitry Sarsembaev ; born November 29, 1997 in Tashagol ) is a Russian snowboarder . He starts in the parallel disciplines.

Career

Sarsembayev started internationally for the first time in March 2015 at the Junior World Championships in Yabuli . There he won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom and achieved 31st place in the parallel slalom. In the 2015/16 season he achieved nine top ten placements, including two wins, fourth place in the parallel ranking of the European Cup. He made his debut in the Snowboard World Cup in January 2016 in Rogla , which he finished in 26th place in the parallel giant slalom. At the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2016 in Rogla he won the gold medal in the parallel giant slalom. He also came fifth there in the parallel slalom. In February 2017 in Pyeongchang he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup with sixth place in the parallel giant slalom and, as in the previous year, won the gold medal in the parallel giant slalom and fifth place in the parallel slalom at the Junior World Championships in Klínovec . At the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in the Sierra Nevada , he finished 32nd in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2017/18 season he came in 12 World Cup starts, five times in the top ten and thus reached 12th place in the Parallel Giant Slalom World Cup, 11th place in the Parallel Slalom World Cup and tenth place in the Parallel World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, he came 14th in the parallel giant slalom. In the following year he won the 21st place in the parallel giant slalom and the fourth place in the parallel slalom at the World Championships in Park City and won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom and the silver medal in the parallel slalom at the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk .
