Dmitri Vladimirovich Karakosov
Dmitry Karakozov ( Russian Дмитрий Владимирович Каракозов ;. Scientific transliteration Dmitrij Vladimirovič Karakozov ; born October 11 . Jul / 23. October 1840 greg. In Schmakino, Saratov province ; † August 22 jul. / 3. September 1866 greg. In Sankt Petersburg ) was a low of nobility originating Russian bombers . After attending high school in Saratov , he studied at Kazan and Moscow universities . He was a member of the Ischutinist Revolutionary Secret Society ( Ишутинцы ), which was founded in Moscow in 1863 by his cousin Ischutin .
On April 4, 1866, his assassination attempt on Tsar Alexander II at the entrance gate of the Summer Garden in Saint Petersburg failed. His first pistol shot missed its target, the second was prevented by Osip Komissarow, an apprentice hat maker of rural origin who was ennobled for his services. The assassin shouted in disappointment: “You donkeys, I did it because of you!” Karakosov was executed . The criminal investigation was led by Count Muravyov-Wilensky , who died shortly after Karakosov's execution.
Karakosov's act inspired the revolutionaries Sergei Nechayev and Vera Zasulich .
