Doctor Ross

Charles Isaiah Ross , known as Doctor Ross (* 21st October 1925 in Tunica , Mississippi ; † 28. May 1993 in Flint , Michigan ) one was African-American blues - singer and - guitarist , harmonica player and drummer ( "One Man Band" ).

He began his recording career in 1952 with a recording for the Chess label , had some sales successes a year later with recordings for the legendary Sun label , and then published on various local labels until he became a folk musician in the mid-1960s. Revivals "discovered" by Pete Welding and recorded for a first long-playing record on his label "Testament". From then on he was a regular guest at folk and blues festivals in the USA and Europe (e.g. at the American Folk Blues Festival 1965 and the Montreux Blues Festival 1972) and recorded a large number of other albums.

Eric Clapton's band Cream covered the Doctor Ross song Cat's Squirrel on their album Fresh Cream in 1966 .
