Doda is a small town ( Municipal Committee ) in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir .
It forms the administrative seat of the district of the same name . In the 2011 census, the population was 21,605.
The city of Doda is located in the mountains 80 km northeast of Jammu on the right bank of the Jhelam river . The city is at an altitude of 1149 m . The National Highway 1B runs through the city and connects it with the upriver town of Kishtwar . The road branches down the river. To the south it goes to Udhampur and Jammu, to the north to Banihal and Anantnag .
