Dodchudo Karamschojew

Dodchudo Karamschojew ( Tajik / Russian Додхудо Карамшоев , born May 5, 1932 in Bajuw, Rushon region, GBAO Berg-Badachschan , Tajik SSR ; † January 4, 2007 in Dushanbe ) was a Soviet-Tajik linguist with a focus on Iranian -Tajik languages a three-volume dictionary Shughni-Russian.

Origin and education

Karamschojew comes from a farming family in the Pamirs . From 1947 to 1950 he received training at the department for external students (distance learning) at the Pedagogical University of Applied Sciences in Chorog. 1948–1952 he worked as a teacher at the elementary school in Bajuw, his birthplace. From 1952 to 1956 he took part in training at the TG Shevchenko State Pedagogical Institute in Stalinabad .

Professional background

After graduating with honors, he worked as a teacher of the Tajik language and literature. Between 1957 and 1959 Karamschojew was an aspirant at the chair of Iranian Philology at the University of Leningrad with WS Sokolowa. His work included various projects with I. I. Zarubin and A. L. Grjunberg. Since 1959 Karamschojew worked at the Institute for Language and Literature Rudaki of the Academy of Sciences in the Tajik SSR.

In 1963 he defended the dissertation Badschuwski dialekt schugnanskogo jasyka for the candidate Nauk. From 1966 to 1970 he was a lecturer at the Kuljab State Pedagogical Institute. Karamschojew has been head of the Pamir Language Department at the Rudaki Institute since 1967. In 1970 he was awarded the Order For Heroic Work on the occasion of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin's 100th birthday . In 1980 he defended the dissertationategoria Roda w pamirskich jasykach for a doctorate in Iranian philology.

Between 1987 and 1990 he was professor at the Lenin State University of Tajikistan and from 1992 to 1997 professor at the M. Nazarschojew State University of Khorog . In 1996 he became Honored Scientist of the Republic of Tajikistan and recipient of the Mavlavi Prize (Jaloluddin Rumi).

From 2004 he was a professor at the Slaviansky University in Dushanbe . In 2004 Karamschojew became a member of the Pedagogical and Social Science Academy of the Russian Federation and in the following year of the International Academy of Sciences for Ecology, Humanitarian Security and Environment, Section Education (MANĖB).

He published over 100 scientific studies and essays on topics of the Pamir sciences, the study of the Pamir languages ​​and dialects, the gender in the Pamir languages, the lexicography of the Pamir languages ​​and the oral literatures of the Pamiris.
