Doljanen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Doljanen (Dolinyanins, Haynals, Hajnalen) are a Russian hill tribe in the Carpathian Mountains . As an East Slav ethnic group, they are mostly considered part of the Ukrainian people today .

The term Eastern Slavs refers to Russians , Belarusians , Ruthenians, and Ukrainians (Ruthenians are often viewed as a subgroup of Ukrainians). The East Slavic cultures and languages are very similar. Today's East Slavic peoples all originate from the Old Russian ethnic group of the Kievan Rus Empire . A separation into separate peoples did not take place until the late Middle Ages, when, as a result of the devastation of the country by Mongols, large parts of the population in the west came under Polish-Lithuanian rule lasting several centuries and each time different cultural developments occurred.
