Curton Dolmen
The approximately 7.55 m long Dolmen of Curton is located south of Jugazan , southeast of Libourne in the wine-growing region of Entre deux mers in the Gironde department in France and is a gallery grave .
The corridor of this Allée couverte is between 0.75 and 1.35 m wide. The approximately 4.4 m long chamber is delimited by five orthostats on the left, three on the right and a 1.15 m long end plate. A capstone about 2.5 x 2.3 m is in situ . The limestone dole lies in a clearing in a forest.
The inside of the end plate was decorated with flat incisions, incomplete due to erosion of the upper part, as are often found in megalithic systems. The representations consist of circles, a point with six parallel lines and a "U" - or horseshoe-shaped design.
The dolmen has been classified as a monument historique since 1995 .
Nearby are the Bellefond dolmens .
