Roscasquen dolmen
The Dolmen of Roscasquen (also called Dolmen of Kerpinvic ) is located on the D62 road in a clearing east of Quimperlé in the Finistère department in Brittany in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).
The simple dolmen ( French dolmen simple ) with the oversized capstone made of slate , which rested on six supporting stones, which are partially tilted on one side, could be a late Neolithic burial place. An end stone is preserved, but the burial mound has disappeared. The complex, which is closed on all sides, indicates a burial from the Bronze Age . The megalithic complex was excavated in 1844 by the archaeologist WC Lukis (1817-1892).
The Roscasquen dolmen is a monument historique . Closer to Quimperlé is the Keransquer dolmen .
