Domas Krivickas

Domas Krivickas (born December 22, 1905 in Šeduva , † May 17, 1999 in Washington, DC ) was a Lithuanian lawyer and professor .

Life

In 1929 Krivickas graduated from the law faculty of Lietuvos universitetas in Kaunas . From 1929 to 1932 he studied at the University of Cologne , Humboldt University in Berlin and the Hague Academy for International Law . In 1934 Krivickas received his doctorate in law. From 1932 to 1944 he taught at the Vilniaus universitetas and at the college courses for officers in Kaunas. From 1941 to 1943 Krivickas was Vice Rector of the Vilniaus universitetas . From 1934 to 1940 he worked as a lawyer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania . From 1934 to 1939 he was a member of Valstybės Taryba . In 1944 he emigrated to Germany. In 1946 he taught international law at the Baltic University in Hamburg . In 1950 he emigrated to the USA. From 1951 to 1974 he worked at the Library of Congress as a Senior Legal Specialist in the European Law Division .

Krivickas has published articles on international law in "Teisė", "Baltic Review", "Federal Bar News" and others. He was the editor of Lietuvių enciklopedija .

In 1993 he was awarded the Order of the Vytis Cross (Karininko kryžius).
