Domenichino
Domenichino (born October 28, 1581 in Bologna , † April 6, 1641 in Naples ; actually Domenico Zampieri ) was an Italian painter .
Life
Domenichino was initially a student of Denys Calvaert , who exercised an important teaching influence in Bologna at the time. Then he learned and painted in the famous Carracci family of artists .
From 1630 he lived in Naples, where he created the frescoes in the Cappella del Tesoro in the local cathedral over a period of eight years . Mainly, inspired by Annibale Carracci , the artist painted landscapes populated by historical or mythological figures.
