Domenico Antonio Luigi Pacifico Nicola Baldassare Consolini (born June 7, 1806 in Senigallia , † December 20, 1884 in Rome ) was Cardinal of the Curia .

Life

Domenico Consolini was born the fourth son of Marchese Tommaso Consolini and his wife Angela Grapelli . He studied until 1832 first in Senigallia and then in Rome. Presumably around this time he also received the minor ordinations, possibly also the subdeacon and deacon ordination. But he never received ordination as a priest or bishop. In December 1832 he began his career at the Curia as His Holiness's House Prelate . Under Pope Gregory XVI. he held various offices at the Apostolic Court and was also active as a legate. After he was succeeded by Gregory Pius IX. In 1846 he was sent to Perugia as a mediator, and from 1850 he worked as Vice President in the State Secretariat .

Pius IX created Consolini in the consistory of June 22nd, 1866 to cardinal and appointed him on the 25th of d. M. as cardinal deacon of Santa Maria in Domnica . He became a member of the De Propaganda Fide congregation and took part in the First Vatican Council . After his participation in the conclave of 1878 he was led by Leo XIII. appointed Arch Chancellor of the Roman University. In 1884 he became cardinal protodiacon as the longest serving cardinal deacon. From March 24, 1884 Consolini was cardinal chamberlain for nine months before he died at the age of 78.
