Dominik Mayer

Dominik Mayer (born August 1, 1809 in Röschitz ; † May 4, 1875 in Vienna ) was titular bishop of Cisamus , professor of pastoral theology, rector of the University of Vienna and apostolic field vicar of the Austro-Hungarian army.

Life

Mayer was ordained a priest on July 22, 1834 in Vienna. At the Viennese seminary he was first active as prefect of studies and subregens, and finally from 1857 to 1863 he was the regens of the seminary, from 1851 professor of pastoral theology and 1862 rector of the University of Vienna .

On April 1, 1863 he was appointed Apostolic Field Vicar and ordained Titular Bishop of Cisamus on December 13, 1863 by Cardinal Rauscher .
