Dominik Planzer (born July 5, 1983 ) is a former Swiss cycling player from the RS Altdorf and cycling world champion (2012).
Career
In 1994 he came second for the first time in the Swiss Student B Championship with Roger Gisler . In the following years they rose together in the National League A and won the bronze medal at the U23 European Cup. From the 2005 season he played together with Paul Looser , who became world champion in 2002. Together with him, he won the Swiss Cup twice and came fourth at the 2006 World Cup.
Towards the end of the 2007 season he changed partners again and has since played with Roman Schneider from Mosnang . After just a few weeks they won the World Cup final together and were even able to repeat this title two years later at the 2009 World Cup . Four Swiss Cup victories and three Swiss championship titles followed. At the 2011 World Cup , they were again able to qualify for the World Championships and finished second. The following year they even became world champions at the World Championships in Aschaffenburg . The next year they could not defend their world champion title and took bronze. Just two weeks later, they won their third overall World Cup title for it.
In November 2017 he starts with Roman Schneider at the Indoor Cycling World Championships 2017 in Dornbirn, Austria . He ended his active career after the World Cup final in 2017.
In March 2018 Dominik Planzer and Roman Schneider were awarded the "Altdorfer Medal".
