Dominik Schuster

Dominik Schuster (born April 13, 1988 in Mannheim ) is a German composer and orchestrator for film and concert music .

Life

Schuster learned to play the piano and trumpet at the age of six . He joined several regional band formations as a keyboardist and drummer at an early age , until he began studying composition for film and media in Munich in 2008 . Among his teachers were Gerd Baumann and Enjott Schneider . During his studies he wrote the music for numerous short and advertising films.

In 2012 he won the German Game Music Award and was given the opportunity to write for various orchestras .

On behalf of the Goethe Institute , Schuster set the classic silent film Die Büchse der Pandora to music. The director, Georg Wilhelm Pabst , is still considered one of the most important filmmakers of his time. The two-hour orchestral work was premiered live for the film in Bucharest in October 2014. Further concerts followed.

In 2015 he wrote the music for the German movie Mara and the Fire Bringer in collaboration with Andreas Lenz v. Ungern-Sternberg. The author and director of the novel and the film is Tommy Krappweis .

After graduating from university in 2015, Schuster returned to Mannheim, where he works in his studio as a composer , orchestrator and music producer for film and concert music.
