DOMO Chemicals is a Saxony-Anhalt chemical company based in Leuna . The company is a subsidiary of the Belgian DOMO Investment Group . DOMO Chemicals has specialized in polyamide production.

history

The DOMO Group has been producing carpets and yarns in Ghent, Belgium, since 1991 . In 1994 the Caprolactam division of the Leunawerke was taken over by DOMO, from which DOMO Chemicals was formed. At the Leuna site, polyamide 6 granules and resins will continue to be produced and sold together with various by-products such as caprolactam, ammonium sulfate , cumene , acetone and cyclohexanone . In 2014 around 170,000 tons of caprolactam were synthesized in Leuna. The Engineering Plastics divisionis responsible for the refinement of polyamide-6 to various engineering plastics. The division was established in 2002 and was expanded in 2004 by taking over the carpet recycling plant Polyamid 2000 from Premnitz in Brandenburg . In 2014, the Italian CFP Flexible Packaging SpA, a producer of polyamide 6 films for the packaging industry, was taken over. In January 2020, DOMO completed the acquisition of Solvay's European high-performance polyamide business . This business included the engineering plastics operations in France and Poland, the operation of high-performance fibers in France and the operation of polyamide 6.6 granulates and resins as well as the intermediates hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid in France, Spain and Poland.
