Frederique van der Wal ( also Frédérique van der Wal ) (born August 30, 1967 in The Hague ) is a Dutch actress and former model who became known through appearances at Victoria's Secret and various covers of magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Vogue . She grew up in The Hague.

Career

Van der Wal has appeared in campaigns for Revlon , Guess and Victoria's Secret . She was also photographed in Forbes and InStyle .

In 2003 van der Wal appeared in a stage production of The Vagina Monologues ( Washington DC ).

Van der Wal has starred in several films including Barry Sonnenfeld's Wild Wild West with Will Smith and The Million Dollar Hotel with Mel Gibson , Milla Jovovich and Amanda Plummer from Wim Wenders . She also starred in the film Celebrity. Rich. Famous. by Woody Allen with Charlize Theron and in James Toback's Two Girls and a Guy .

She has produced and presented various television programs for the American Discovery Network, including The Invisible Journey With Frederique on Travel Channel (about how flowers get from growers to customers) and Covershot on TLC.

Van der Wal has produced and shown television programs such as World Class with Frederique for the scripts network The Ultimate Holiday Towns USA , a two-hour special for A&E , as well as programs in her native Holland. She was the "mole" in the Hawaii celebrity edition of ABC's popular TV series The Mole and the host and producer of Discovery TLC's Cover Shot, where she assembled an expert team of make-up artists and stylists to turn an ordinary woman into a cover model to transform. Van der Wal is currently a presenter on RTL 5's The Face.

Van der Wal was also visiting professor at Harvard University and was named Marie Claire Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011 . Previously, she was involved in licensing deals that bear her name as varied as a line of lingerie, sleepwear and loungewear, a swimsuit line, a training video, a signature fragrance and a calendar.

In 2005 her native Holland named a lily in her honor. The "Frederique's Choice Lily" was unveiled at a ceremony in Amsterdam and inspired her to develop, produce and host a television show called The Invisible Journey with the Discovery Channel , which traces the path of a flower out of Africa's growing fields, markets and Auction houses in the Netherlands, for a special event in New York City.

Van der Wal then founded a lifestyle brand within the flower industry, Frederique's Choice. With the start of the US business unit, she produced and hosted a TV show called HomeGrownMakeover with Frederique and Carter, a 10-part TV series that aired on AETN's FYI channel in 2016. The program transforms houses into flowers and plants and brings nature into the house. Her business also appeared in the season finale of Germanys Next Top Model with host Heidi Klum .

Life

Van der Wal has a daughter with her partner. Her brother is an art advisor and curator based in New York.
