Original: I took a chance and changed your way of life
but you misread my meaning when I met you
closed the door and left me blinded by the light
don't let the sun go down on me
although I search myself, it's always someone else I see.
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
but losing everything is like the sun going down on me.

German: I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misunderstood
what I said when we met You closed the door and left me behind - blinded by the light
Don't let the sun go down on me
Though I look for myself, find myself I always have someone else
I would only allow part of your life to roam free
But losing everything is like the sun setting on me

In 1986 a live version of the song was recorded, which appeared on the live album Live in Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the box set To Be Continued… .
