The life cycle of a monarch butterfly , which is widespread in America and spread over the South Pacific to Australia in the 18th century , is shown and explained . The monarch butterfly, a migratory butterfly , is the best-studied butterfly in North America. Individual animals can cover up to 3,600 kilometers on their hikes in autumn. The moth has its greatest population density in North America in the area of the Great Lakes , as there are many silk plants growing there.
It shows the metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly and where the monarch butterfly is on its journey. Numerous opponents, from a praying mantis to a railroad train to a man, threaten the existence of the beautiful creature.
