Donald Leo Mischer (born March 5, 1940 in San Antonio , Texas ) is an American television producer and director . He has directed the 2011 , 2012 and 2013 Academy Awards , among others .

Life

Mischer was born the son of Alberta and Elmer Mischer. He first attended Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio to then study political science at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin . He graduated with a Masters in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin . At first he wanted to pursue a career as a professor, but then decided on one as a film producer - his long-standing hobby.

Since then , Mischer has founded his own production company, Don Mischer Productions , and has produced numerous television films, events and award shows. In 2004 he produced the Democratic National Convention .

Mischer has four children and was married to Suzan Warne Reed . He is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Awards

Mischer was awarded a total of 13 Primetime Emmys and nominated for 28 more. He was also awarded 10 Directors Guild of America .
