Donald Morgan Nielsen Junior (born October 18, 1951 in New London , New Hampshire ) is a former American biathlete .

Nielsen first took part in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . In the sprint competition over 10 kilometers he reached 44th place. He finished the relay competition over four times 7.5 kilometers with his teammates Martin Hagen , Lyle Nelson and Peter Hoag Jr. in 8th place. At his second Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in 1984 , Nielsen returned to the sprint. In the final ranking he finished 42nd. In the season with Bill Carow , Lyle Nelson and Josh Thompson , the US team was 11th.

Nielsen attended the Hotchkiss School until his graduation in 1970 and then studied in Dartmouth . He completed his studies in classical studies in 1974 with magna cum laude . After retiring from active sports, he lived in Boulder , Colorado and worked as a teacher. After his marriage to a Greek woman, Nielsen moved to Greece in 1991 .
