Donald P. Hansen

Donald P. Hansen (born September 4, 1931 , † February 15, 2007 in New York ) was an American archaeologist from the Near East .

Hansen studied first at Dartmouth College , then at Harvard University , where he received his doctorate. From 1963 until his death he taught as professor of Near Eastern Archeology at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University .

He took part in the excavations of Nippur , in 1963 and 1965 he led an excavation of the Oriental Institute of Chicago in Abū ṢalābĪḫ , 1964 to 1978 he led the excavation in Mendes , 1968 to 1976 and 1990 he worked in Tell al-Hiba ( Lagaš ) .
