Donato Ogliari

Donato Ogliari OSB (born December 10, 1956 in Erba , Province of Como , Italy ) is a Benedictine and Archabbot of the Territorial Abbey of Montecassino .

Life

Donato Ogliari studied philosophy and theology in Turin and London after graduating from school . He entered the congregation of the Consolata Missionaries in Turin and made temporary profession on September 3, 1978 . Ogliari received on 3 July 1982, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He then continued his studies at the University of Leuven , where he in theology to Dr. theol. received his doctorate. In 1988 he changed the religious community and entered the northern Italian Benedictine abbey Praglia , from where he was sent to the abbey of S. Madonna della Scala in Noci (Apulia) in 1989 and made his perpetual profession there in 1992. In 2006 he was elected Abbot of Noci. The Abtsbenediktion he received on 7 October of 2006.

On October 23, 2014, Pope Francis confirmed the election of Donato Ogliari as Archabbot of Montecassino. Archabbot Donatus was introduced to his post as Territorial Abbot of Montecassino Abbey on November 22, 2014 by Cardinal Marc Ouellet . Donato Ogliari is the 192nd successor of St. Benedict of Nursia .
