Donna Missal (born December 26, 1990 in New Jersey ) is an American singer and songwriter .

Life

Donna Missal comes from a musical family; her grandmother was a songwriter in the 1940s and her father was a musician and ran a recording studio in New York City in the 1980s . The family moved to New Jersey, where the father set up a home studio. Donna Missal took part in her family's recording projects early on, such as an annual Christmas album. In New Jersey she appeared on the stage of a children's theater. She soon began singing in bands and starting songwriting, including pieces for the soundtrack of the 2013 comedy film How to Be a Man . In 2015, Missal recorded her own song Keep Lying , which reached 1.5 million views on streaming services . Songs like Sick and The Keeper followed in 2016 . She has performed at music festivals like Riot Fest and Bumbershoot . In 2017 she released two more singles, Holiday and Transformer . The singer worked with the rapper Macklemore and the band Rudimental , among others . In September 2018, the Harvest label released their first album entitled This Time .

When asked about the genre in which she locates her music, Missal replied in an interview on entertainmentvoice.com in 2018: "It's not entirely pop , it's not entirely R&B , it's not really alternative ." Instead, she described her style as " feminist strippers music ”.
