The village chapel Starkenhofen is a chapel in Starkenhofen, a hamlet near Seibranz in Bad Wurzach in the Ravensburg district .

description

The chapel is located on the local road that connects Starkenhofen with Seibranz and Bauhofen, at the junction to the Wachbühl elevation .

The geostete chapel has one with beaver tails thatched gable roof , which in a retracted apse ends. There is a small canopy over the entrance on the west side . The overlying facade of the end face of the building with wooden verschindelt . There is a clock in the middle of the front of the building. A bell is hung in the gable on the roof ridge.

Inside the chapel there are several valuable sacred art objects, a wooden figure of St. Agatha and one of St. John the Baptist. Both figures can be dated to 1490. In its design, influences from the Ulm School and the cabinet maker Hans Multscher from Reichenhofen can be recognized.

The baroque altar bears the coat of arms of the Zeil rule with the Hohenstaufen lions. On the altar sheet Maria and the three Zeil house patrons Walburga , Winnibald and Wunibald are depicted. A begging child kneels on a cloud in front of Saint Wolfgang and he hands him a coin. The depiction of St. Wolfgang could point to the fact that the Marien Altar comes from the St. Wolfgang Chapel in Aichstetten .
