Buchholz village church

The Buchholz village church is a neo-Gothic brick church in the Buchholz district of the Ziesendorf community in the Rostock district . It was built from 1875 to 1878 and is the church of the Buchholz community in the Rostock provost in the Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany ( Northern Church ).

history

Buchholz was first mentioned in a document in the middle of the 14th century as a parish and parish village, and in 1359 a church lord Dietrich Pape was reported. In the Middle Ages the church belonged to the Archdeaconate Rostock. It is first mentioned in the tithe register in 1470. The church was built in the neo-Gothic style Georg Daniel from 1875 to 1878, but burned down together with the rectory on May 1, 1914. With great economic effort it was rebuilt from 1923 to 1925 with minor changes. The upper west tower with pointed helmet was built one floor lower than in the previous building. Support from the country could not come, so that the farmers and citizens raised the funds. The files on the previous church were destroyed in the fire, so there is no evidence of the construction.

After the reconstruction, the Oberkirchenrat in Schwerin handed over an altar from 1728 and a pulpit from 1740 from the Ticino city church . An altarpiece painted by the Berlin artist Elisabeth Strempel with the depiction of the crucified from 1883 was saved from the fire and is in a side niche. The organ was built in 1930 by the organ builder Marcus Runge from Hagenow . Due to maintenance measures that were not carried out during the Nazi era and the GDR era , massive damage to the building had occurred, and work has been done to rectify this since the 1990s. In 1998 and 2000 the roof was renewed, in 2004 the bells were repaired and outdoor lighting was installed. A support association has been supporting the parish since 2003 in the renovation and maintenance of the church's value.
