Drebsdorf village church

history

The church tower , which also served as a defensive tower , was built around 1000, as can be seen from slit hatches (which are now walled up) . The current nave was built to the west of the tower in Romanesque or early Gothic times. There are still indicated arched windows . Later additions and alterations blurred many testimonies of bygone days, years and epochs .

A special feature is to the east of the tower. The rectory was once established there from the 13th century. There are two floors above the ground-level winter church , which can be reached via the tower staircase.

Church and rectory are connected to each other through the tower, so the tower can be accessed via the rectory.
