The church

The Protestant village church Großlohma in the district Großlohma the city Blankenhain in the district Weimarer Land in Thuringia is located in the southern part of the village. It is surrounded by a walled cemetery.

General

On the south side of the simple rectangular building with western ridge turret is a baroque grave stone . Consecration stones on the outside of the wall and a small round-arched sacrament niche inside still reveal the Romanesque complex. A pointed arched niche and a Gothic window in the eastern part of the later extension also reveal construction phases of this era.

The inscription with the year 1689 refers to the - presumably baroque - renovation after the Thirty Years War . The church received the roof turret, the wooden barrel , the large rectangular windows and the galleries .

The paintings on the parapets depict parts of the biblical story in a naive, rural manner.

The pulpit altar from 1724 is decorated with images of Jesus and the four evangelists . The decorations show fruits, tendrils, and angel heads ; the upper end is the figure of Christ triumphator .

The small organ by Christian August Gerhard with registers and choir tuning dates from 1800.
