Christian August Gerhard

Christian August Gerhard (born September 1, 1745 in Lindig ; † December 15, 1817 ) was a German organ builder .

Life

Gerhard was the son of the organ builder Justinus Ehrenfried Gerhard , a pupil of Gottfried Silbermann . His workshop was in Lindig. In 1777 he married the local resident Maria Susanna Süße. The marriage produced 16 children, 9 of whom reached adulthood. Gerhard's son Johann Christian Adam was also an organ builder. He moved the workshop to Dorndorf .
