To the north-west of the village is the Rehmer See and to the north the wooded hills towards Langendembach begin . The Orlaaue is a fertile site close to the groundwater. The federal road 281 from Gera to Saalfeld and the Gera-Saalfeld railway pass south of the village . Pößneck is to the west and Oppurg to the east, close to the village.

history

A prehistoric and early historical settlement of the Orlatal can be proven with the finds recovered not far from Oppurg on the rugged Zechstein reef. Rehmen was first mentioned in a document in 1350. In 1871 Oppurg was connected to the railway, and in 1912 the lines to Oppurg, Kolba and Rehmen were electrified. The village was and is characterized by agriculture.
