history

A high wall frames the former cemetery on which the church stands. A wall ridge in the south of the wall indicates a protection and defense system.

The building complex with entrance porch, nave , church tower , choir and sacristy give the image of a long development period.

The ashlars of the nave wall and a round arched window on the south wall point to a construction time in the 12th century. In 1350 extensive construction work that was not recorded took place.

From 1450 to 1530 the church was significantly improved, the choir building was increased, the battlements with gargoyles and the roof were renewed. The Bahrenhaus was as high as the nave before the renovation in 1690. There was a sacristy and a crypt . During this time the ship was given a hipped roof sloping 45 degrees .

The tower was raised to its current height in the 17th century and crowned on a flat pyramid with an octagonal tail dome , an open lantern with a small tail dome.

In the 18th century, the small window openings of the 12th century were replaced by large windows on base masonry. The door on the west side has become more unadorned.

A narrower choir extension opposite the nave ended with a semicircular apse. Richly decorated fighters from the early days have been preserved from the round arch on the choir square. The apse is no longer there.

It is believed that the lower wall sections of the tower with a walled-up arched window date back to the 12th century.

The interior was carefully renovated in 1994.
