The village church of St. Michael Hohendorf is in the Hohendorf district of the city of Bürgel in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish in Burgel Kirchenkreis Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The church is on a hill in the northeast of this small town.

history

In the 13th century it was built as a choir tower church . The tower is a recessed square building with an apse and Romanesque triumphal arch . The apse is already Gothic .

description

The exterior was remodeled in the 17th and 18th centuries. The tower was then built octagonal at the top.

The nave has three-sided galleries with choir and cross vaults and a built-in apse as a sacristy .
