The Protestant village church Jatzke is a Gothic stone church in the Jatzke district of Friedland in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It belongs to the Friedland parish in the Neustrelitz Propstei of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Northern Church) .

History and architecture

The Jatzke village church is a rectangular building made of carefully executed field stone masonry with gables, narrow-pointed arched windows, a group of three windows in the east and a sacristy attached to the north , which was built in the second half of the 13th century. The windows on the south side were subsequently enlarged and provided with a brick frame, the northern windows have been preserved in their original form. A younger entrance hall made of less regular field stone masonry is attached to the south side. Of a half-timbered roof tower built in 1772, only the square bell storey has been preserved, which has been covered with a tent roof instead of the original pointed helmet since 1933 . A stepped pointed arch portal opens up the church in the west. The inside is flat.

Furnishing

A pulpit altar with barriers and the coat of arms of the von Gentzkow patronage family on the pulpit was created in 1720. It already shows the influence of the Regency style . The trinity symbol of a triangle in the wreath of clouds is shown in the altar extract . The former patronage stalls and a pastor's chair with monumental pillars were made in 1732. A pedigree of Felix Ludwig Zabel von Gentzkow and his brother Balthasar Leopold Dusert von Gentzkow from 1775 on the occasion of their acceptance into the Order of St. John is attached to the patronage pews . A carved relief of unclear origin from the beginning of the 16th century represents the mercy seat . Above the entrance door on the south side there is a memorial plaque for the fallen of the First World War. Of the Communion chalices, a silver chalice is dated 1684, another silver-plated brass chalice was created around 1800. Two pewter goblets with paten were made in 1740. A pewter candlestick was created in 1665, another pair of pewter candlesticks dates from 1794. A brass baptismal bowl was created in 1681. An iron bell was cast in 1690 by Johann Ernst Petz, another bell from 1852 by F. Schünemann from Demmin. Instead of an organ, the community uses a harmonium as a musical instrument.
