The core of the village church in Lütgendorf, a district of Klocksin in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , dates back to the 13th century. It is a church of the parish Kirch Grubenhagen in the Propstei Neustrelitz, parish Mecklenburg of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

Building history

The church is a rectangular field stone building from the 13th century with a pointed arch portal on the south side and various, mostly high-set pointed arched windows. After the Thirty Years War the church lay desolate for a long time before it was used again in 1670. The east gable with half-timbering was built in 1775, the west gable was renewed from brick in the 19th century . In 1966 the interior was renovated. In 1980 the west gable of the church collapsed and the organ gallery was destroyed. The necessary repairs to the building did not take place until 1987. The church has been rehabilitated for a long time, mostly with the participation of international youth groups.

Furnishing

The interior of the church has mainly 18th century furnishings. The pulpit altar with carvings and Last Supper paintings as well as the two-storey patronage box with the alliance coat of arms Linstow / Lowtzow of the patron couple Hans Rudolph von Linstow and Elisabeth Sophia, née. von Lo (w) tzow, both from around 1776. A special feature is the wooden baptismal angel . To the right of the altar is the grave slab of a knight with a relief depicting the deceased from the late 16th century. This could be the grave slab of Jochim Linstow († 1588), whose epitaph from 1591 with a relief representation of the Last Judgment in the middle part has also been preserved. Only the substructure of the former organ gallery remains. A picture of the Madonna kept in the church dates from the 19th century.

In front of the church is a free-standing belfry with the Concordia bell, which was cast in Waren in 1860 by Johann Carl Ludwig Illies . The original belfry from 1819 had to be dismantled in 2001 due to the risk of collapse, but was reconstructed true to the original in 2004.
