History, building description and equipment

The boarded roof tower over the west gable of the church

The Polzow village church is a rectangular hall building from the 16th century made of hewn field stones and has a boarded roof tower above its west gable, which was probably built later in the 18th century. The windows and the entrance portal on the west side were changed in the neo-Gothic style in the 19th century. On the east side of the church there is a small mortuary, in the gable of the east side there are two small pointed arched windows. The church with the churchyard, where the cemetery is located, is bordered by a stone wall. The church was completely renovated in 2004 and then rededicated.

The interior has a flat ceiling and shows biblical scenes from the Old Testament and tendril ornaments. Like the Last Supper on the east wall, the painting was probably made by Erich Kistenmacher from Berlin in 1910 or, according to other information, in 1914/15. The pulpit with rear wall and sound cover dates from the 17th century and has glare fields between columns in the basket.

The only bell in Polzow Church was cast in 1704 by Johann Jacob Schulz from Berlin.
