Church district Pasewalk

The Pasewalk parish was one of the four parishes of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church (PEK). It was formed in 1997 through the merger of several old church districts. The official seat was in Pasewalk . The church district Pasewalk went through the re-establishment of the Lutheran Evangelical Church in Northern Germany ( "North Church" ) to Pentecost 2012 at the Evangelical Church of Pomerania district on.

Geographical location

The Pasewalk church district was located in the east of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and was also the easternmost of the four PEK church districts. Its extension essentially corresponded to that of the former Uecker-Randow district . Several communities were in the state of Brandenburg .

The church district bordered the church district Greifswald and the Stettiner Haff in the north and northwest . To the west of it was the Stargard parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg . In the south was the Uckermark parish of the Evangelical Church of Brandenburg . The eastern border was the border with Poland.

The church district was created in 1997 from the church districts Gartz (Oder) , Pasewalk, Penkun and Ueckermünde . The church district was divided into parishes and had 26 parish parish offices. Pasewalk was the seat of the superintendent . The superintendent was Andreas Haerter.

Until 2004 the administrative office of the church district was located in Pasewalk, which was combined with the offices of the three other church districts in the Evangelical Consistory in Greifswald as part of the restructuring of the PEK .
