The Protestant village church Raben is a Romanesque stone church in the Raben district of Rabenstein / Fläming in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the parish of Rädigke in the Evangelical Church District Mittelmark-Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia and is an open church .

History and architecture

The village church is a stately late Romanesque hall church in field stone ashlar masonry from the first half of the 13th century with a retracted, rectangular choir and apse . A stepped construction seam can be seen in the masonry between the choir and the part of the nave, which separates the older eastern parts from the younger western part. The ashlar masonry of the ship is more carefully squared than that of the eastern parts. A square half-timbered roof tower with a massive west wall is built over the west gable, which is closed off with a tail hood and octagonal lantern , which presumably date from the 18th century. The openings were renewed in the 18th and 19th centuries; On the north side of the choir there is a walled up arched portal. The interior is finished with a beamed ceiling. A pointed choir and apse arch separate the parts of the room. The horseshoe gallery and the northern choir gallery were built in the 18th century. In 1907 a restoration including the equipment took place; at that time the rich 18th century painting was revised with floral motifs.

Furnishing

The main piece of equipment is a wooden altarpiece from the first half of the 18th century, which shows a painting of the Last Supper in the main field flanked by columns and a picture of the crucifixion in the top. The cheeks and the crown are provided with cut-out painted figures depicting Moses , John the Baptist , angels and Salvator mundi . The wooden pulpit was created around 1700, the painting was later renewed. Presumably at the same time the adjacent barred parish chair was being worked.

On the north outer wall of the church there are several gravestones from the 18th century, including two more elaborate ones for pastors Karl Wilhelm von Kannin († 1742) and Johanna Elisabeth Kannin († 1739). The organ is a work by the Dinse brothers from 1882 with nine stops on a manual and pedal . It was repaired in 1926 and 1973 by Schuke Orgelbau .
