The church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church Thonhausen is in the municipality of Thonhausen in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia . The church belongs to the parish of Thonhausen in the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The exterior of the church is made up of the choir tower from the 13th / 14th centuries. Century ruled with a slate-covered helmet . The building is largely shaped by the renovations in 1668 and 1743. The vault of the choir and the widening of the triumphal arch and the choir arch date from this time . The eastern choir wall is dominated by the organ gallery and the organ. In the nave low coffered ceiling double storey are lofts built. The rest of the furnishings are largely unadorned.

organ

The organ is a work from the years 1744 to 1746 by Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost . After several revisions in the 19th and 20th centuries, the instrument now has 11 stops on a manual and pedal . Between 1967 and 1970 the organ was restored by Hermann Lahmann according to the original arrangement. The instrument deserves special attention as a monument to baroque organ architecture, but due to repeated modifications and repairs, only a few parts of the baroque organ have survived. This includes the housing, the manual wind chest , parts of the pedal wind chest and parts of the bellows system.
