The Protestant village church Uetz is a neo-Gothic hall church in Uetz-Paaren , a district of the city of Potsdam in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish area Old Töplitz in church circle center Mark Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The Uetzer Dorfstraße runs as a central connecting axis coming from the north-west in a south-easterly direction through the town. In the north there is a connection to Landstrasse 92, from which a cul-de-sac leads to the church to the southwest. The building stands on a slightly elevated plot of land that is fenced in with a wall .

history

The structure was erected between 1860 and 1870 using the remains of a previous building from the Middle Ages. Around 1900 the parish had a west tower built.

Building description

The building was mainly made of bricks , which were then plastered . The choir has moved in and has a five-eighth closing . The corners are stabilized by buttresses , between which plastered wall panels each with a centrally positioned ox-eye lie. A stucco frieze that opens downwards is attached under the eaves . In the north, a sacristy is attached to the choir , which was built from reddish brick. It can be entered from the north through an ogival gate. On the north wall of the sacristy are two coupled, also pointed arch-shaped windows. Choir and sacristy wearing a simple gable roof , the east or the north hipped is.

This is followed by the nave, which is rectangular in plan, to the west . On the north wall there are three buttresses with four wall panels in between. In each of them there is a large ogival window with a profiled reveal . The transition to the gable roof is formed by a triangular frieze of reddish bricks that opens downwards. On the south wall in the eastern area there is a patronage box . It can be entered from the west through an ogival, wooden gate. On the south side there are also two domed and ogival windows. To the west are two more windows on the nave of the ship; separated by buttresses. At the transition to the tower there is a slot-shaped window on both sides.

The transverse rectangular west tower was made of masonry and faced with limestone. It is wider than the ship in the lower area. The main entrance is through a triple profiled portal from the west. To the right of the large gate is a smaller entrance with a pressed segment arched gate; a slit window on the left. On the north and south side there are two pointed arch windows arranged one above the other. Above the tower tapers; Three panels are incorporated into the gable on the east and west sides . The bell storey extends above it . There are three sound arcades on the east and west sides, and two each on the north and south sides . Above is a circumferential frieze, followed by a transverse gable roof with gables decorated with panels. A spire extends out of it and ends with a gold-plated tip.

Furnishing

The church furnishings come from the same period of construction. This includes a wooden relief created by the sculptor Jakob Alberty in 1838 , which shows the Descent from the Cross . The interior is closed off by a wooden barrel.

There is an urn grave memorial in the cemetery that commemorates Frau von Goetzen , who died in 1783.
