Doris-Katharina Hessler

Doris-Katharina Hessler (* 1949 ; † June 13, 2004 in Maintal ) was a German cook .

Life

Hessler worked as an administrative clerk in the Frankfurt Römer . In 1969 she met her husband Ludwig. She initially worked as a temporary worker in her husband's Hessler restaurant in Dörnigheim , near Frankfurt am Main , and from 1976 she took over the kitchen management there. In 1979, Doris-Katharina Hessler was one of the first women in Germany to receive a Michelin star , which she was able to keep constant until her death.

The top chef, nicknamed Katharina the Great, worked exclusively with natural foods, especially from Asian cuisine. She published four cookbooks. Between 1997 and 2000 she appeared in over 100 programs on the ARD Buffet .

Doris-Katharina Hessler died of a heart attack in her apartment in Maintal near Frankfurt. After her death, the restaurant was continued under the name "Hessler" for ten years, from 2008 to 2014 by Markus Medler, then it was closed.
