Doris Sottopietra

Doris Sottopietra (born January 7, 1960 in Dornbirn ; † March 1, 2006 ) was an Austrian historian and political scientist . She published mainly on anti-Semitism in Austria.

Life

Sottopietra came from Vorarlberg and studied history, political science and German at the University of Vienna and political science at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in Vienna. After completing her master's degree, she worked with Gerhard Jagschitz at the Institute for Contemporary History at the University of Vienna in 1995 with a dissertation on Metamorphoses of a Concept. A developmental study of anti-Semitism in Austria on Dr. phil. PhD.

For a long time she worked as a lecturer for scientific and non-fiction books in Vienna . In addition, the humanities and social scientist worked on research projects such as “reparation and restitution in the field of parties and the ÖGB” (the Karl von Vogelsang Institute for the study of the history of Christian democracy in Austria) and was a research assistant for the independent historians' commission of Bank Austria Creditanstalt Histcom Banks . Her research interests were anti-Semitism, racism, ethnicity and right-wing populism. She published mainly on anti-Semitism in Austria; Article published u. a. in the Austrian Journal for Sociology , the Austrian Journal for Political Science and in the yearbook of the Karl von Vogelsang Institute for Research into the History of Christian Democracy in Austria .

In 2007 the Institute for Contemporary History at the University of Vienna and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Historical Social Science awarded the Dr. Doris Sottopietra Memorial Symposium “Metamorphoses of Anti-Semitism Today”.
