Dorit Rabinyan , Hebrew דורית רביניאן(born September 25, 1972 in Kfar Saba ) is an Israeli writer.

Life

Dorit Rabinyan is descended from a Jewish refugee from Iran . Rabinyan wrote three novels (until 2015) that have also been translated into other languages. She also wrote a children's book and the script for a television feature film.

Rabinyan received the British Wingate Literary Prize in 1999 . In 2015 she was awarded the Bernstein Prize, which is awarded by the Israeli publishing organization, for the novel Gader Haya (German: We see each other by the sea ) and was on the list of the ten best books of the year by the daily Haaretz . Political controversy sparked at Gader Haya in late 2015 when the Israeli Ministry of Education, through Naftali Bennett , refused to include the book on the list of recommended literature for high schools. The romance novel is about the failing relationship between an Israeli translator and a Palestinian artist in New York City.
