Dorothée Luise Menzner b. Katz (born September 14, 1965 in Darmstadt ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ).

From 1998 to 2006 she was state chairman of the PDS in Lower Saxony .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1985, Dorothée Menzner first completed a social year in a home for mentally and multiply disabled people and began studying economics at the University of Hanover in 1986 . After completing her intermediate diploma , she changed her subject and began studying architecture , which she completed in 1996 with a degree in engineering .

From 1999 to 2002 she was a member of the PDS parliamentary group and after leaving the Bundestag she was initially unemployed. From autumn 2003 to summer 2005 she was self-employed. From 2005 to 2013 Dorothée Menzner was a member of the German Bundestag . Since 2012 she has been working as a freelance journalist and film producer. In 2012 she produced the film Hibakusha - Journey to the Island of Happiness via Japan one year after the Fukushima disaster.

Dorothée Menzner is widowed and has one son. After the mandate, Dorothée Menzner became self-employed as a legal advisor. From 2015 to 2018 she studied again part-time. And graduated with a bachelor's degree in "Supervision and Guardianship" in November 2018.

politics

In her youth, Dorothée Menzner was mainly involved in church youth work and work for the disabled. In 1994 she became a member of the PDS.

From 1995 to 1998 she was a member of the PDS district executive in Hanover and from 1995 to 1996 the federal party council . From 1997 to 2000, 2002 to 2003 and from 2004 to 2006 she was a member of the federal board of the PDS. From 2003 to 2005 she was also a member of the speaker council of the Gera Dialogue .

Dorothée Menzner was state chairwoman of the PDS in Lower Saxony from 1998 to 2006 and continued to be an assessor on the state board from 2006 to 2010.

She is a member of the Association of Those Persecuted by the Nazi Regime - Association of Antifascists (VVN-BdA) and a delegate in the Federal Congress.

MPs

From 2005 to 2013 Dorothée Menzner was a member of the German Bundestag . Here she was the transport policy spokeswoman for the left-wing parliamentary group in the 16th legislative term and energy policy spokeswoman for the DIE LINKE parliamentary group in the 17th legislative term . It was drawn into the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list.
